Mailbox Protection Options:
- Mail service Gmail.com provides protection using automatic systems for monitoring mailbox activity.
- There is also a system for verifying successful authorizations using IP. If the system detects a significant difference between IP addresses, the current authorization will be canceled.
- In addition, you can enable the additional "2-Step Verification" method suggested by Gmail.com.
To Better Protect Your Google Account, Follow These Steps:
1. Go to the advanced settings section of your account. To do this, click "Google Account" in the upper right corner.
2. Select Sign-in and Security.
3. In the resulting settings menu, click “Password”.
4. Re-enter the current password.
5. Then enter the new password.
For maximum protection, use a password consisting of numbers, lower- and upper-case Latin characters, for example g7NX4PH2R4S4O4hQ7UE9.
The password should not be easy, because scammers seeking to gain access to your mailbox use programs that pick passwords by generating primitive options: QWERTY123456qwerty, 123456789zxc, asd456asd, and so on.
Don't use your date of birth as a password combination. This data is publicly available on social media.
6. Next, enable "2-Step Verification".
7. Read the 2-Step Verification description and click "Get Started".
8. Enter your phone number. If you have several numbers, give the primary one.
9. An SMS with a confirmation code will be sent to the indicated phone number. Enter the code you receive.
10. Complete by confirming the 2-step Verification.
11. After all requirements have been met, you will see a message indicating successful activation of 2-Step Verification.
12. Then, similarly configure the recovery options for your Google account in the "Sign-in and Security" section. To do this, link the phone number and add a backup email.
