Account Linking FAQ

MAIN TERMS

  • Wargaming account: A Wargaming account is a collection of data associated with a particular individual that is required for their use of the products, including authentication (authorization), access to settings, statistics, other information, and use of paid items.
  • Credentials: These are a combination of data used to authenticate a user when logging in to the Wargaming account, such as email and password, or data from social networks (Facebook, Google, Microsoft, etc.) used to log in to the Wargaming account.
  • Wargaming accounts conflict: a situation when two or more Wargaming accounts have the same login credentials within the Wargaming ecosystem.
  • Conflict resolution: the process of resolving a conflict by either linking the accounts or changing the login credentials for one of them.
  • Wargaming accounts linking: combining several Wargaming accounts under the same сredentials.
  • 2FA: Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an identity and access management security method that requires two forms of identification to access resources and data. It gives businesses the ability to monitor and help safeguard their most vulnerable information and networks.
  • Personal data: any information that relates to an identifiable individual. This can include direct identifiers (such as a person's name, address, email address, or phone number) as well as indirect identifiers (such as IP addresses, cookies, or device IDs) that can be used to identify or track an individual.

MAIN POINTS

WHY AM I FACING AN ACCOUNTS CONFLICT?

Wargaming is working to unite the audiences of different servers and will provide players with the opportunity to enjoy our games as one community. As a result, starting in October 2024, we will introduce a system that allows players to combine their Wargaming accounts from different Wargaming servers into one. Players will be able to manage all their Wargaming accounts from one place and use the same credentials to log in to any of their Wargaming accounts.

Please keep in mind that while this system allows you to combine your Wargaming accounts under one set of credentials, each account will continue to operate within its respective server environment.

In this perspective, an account conflict occurs when two or more of your Wargaming accounts from different servers share the same login credentials (e.g., email address or social network profile). This conflict needs to be resolved to ensure each Wargaming account remains accessible and manageable.

You will have two ways to resolve an account conflict:

  • Link your accounts with matching credentials, allowing you to manage them together
  • Change the credentials in one or more of your accounts to make them unique

WHAT CAUSES AN ACCOUNT CONFLICT?

An account is considered to be in conflict when multiple accounts exist within our system that use the same credentials.

Example situations that result in an account conflict:

  • If a player has an EU realm account with the same email address as an NA realm account.
  • If a player registered two different accounts under the same third-party login source like Facebook, Google, etc.

This will require the account owner to resolve the conflict by following the steps listed here.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO RESOLVE AN ACCOUNT CONFLICT?

Players will have until beginning of February 2025 to resolve any account conflicts.

Once this time has passed, players will be required to resolve the conflict first before being able to utilize Wargaming resources.

WHAT IF I DO NOT RESOLVE THE ACCOUNT CONFLICT?

Due to the changes involved to the account system with this update, the conflict must be resolved in order to resume access to the Wargaming ecosystem.

Until the conflict is resolved, access to World of Warships and other Wargaming account systems will be restricted.

See this guide on how to resolve a conflict.

HOW DO I RESOLVE AN ACCOUNT CONFLICT?

To resolve account conflicts, visit the Account Management Page.

Here is a list of basic steps:

  1. Log in to one of your Wargaming accounts.
  2. If there is a conflict, a notification window will display requesting you resolve it.
  3. Affected accounts will be highlighted to be resolved.
  4. You will then be provided with two options for resolution: linking* accounts together or changing the credentials on the indicated accounts.
  5. Once all conflicts have been resolved you will be able to resume activities within the Wargaming ecosystem.

*For additional details on resolving conflicts that involve third-party accounts (i.e., Facebook, Google, etc.) please see details below.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE GAME PROGRESS ON MY LINKED ACCOUNTS?

Existing game progress will not be lost on your linked accounts, and you will be able to select the desired region and associated account once you have logged in.

Note:

  • New progress will only be made for the associated region and account that you select once logged in to your master account.
  • Content from an account being linked will not be shared with other accounts being linked.

WHICH PASSWORD WILL BE USED FOR MY LINKED ACCOUNTS?

If any of the accounts you are attempting to link use a login and password combination, you will be asked to enter a new password.

This is done to ensure you know exactly which password you will be using to log in to your account and ensure it meets our minimum password security requirements.

Note: You can use an existing password if it meets or surpasses our minimum security requirements for user passwords.

WILL MY PLAYER SUPPORT TICKET HISTORY BE SAVED WHEN LINKING ACCOUNTS?

Yes, your Player Support ticket history will be saved.

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO LINK ACCOUNTS TO RESOLVE ACCOUNT CONFLICTS?

If you do not wish to link accounts to resolve the conflict, you may instead opt to change the credentials for the other accounts in conflict to a new unique set of credentials.

For further instructions on how to do this see the question below.

HOW DO I GIVE MY ACCOUNTS UNIQUE CREDENTIALS?

Once you are logged in, we will show you all the credentials linked to multiple accounts, including the current one (if the credentials apply to only one account, they will not be displayed). The sections containing the conflicting credentials will be marked with red.

If no sections with credentials are marked once you log in, this means that all your account credentials are unique and don't coincide with any other accounts. You don't need to do anything with this account.

Change your email or phone number, or unbind a social network profile.

  1. If multiple accounts have the same email address, you will need to link a unique email address to each of these accounts. You can do it through the Account Management Page or our Player Support (after February 2025).
  2. If multiple accounts have the same phone number, you will need to link a unique phone number to each of these accounts. You can do this through the Account Management Page or our Player Support (after February 2025).
  3. If multiple accounts are bound to the same social network profile, unbind this social network profile from all but one of them.
  • For all the credentials displayed in red, use the unbind option.
    • If you cannot unbind a social network profile (e.g., because it is the only credential linked to the account), log out from this server and try logging in to another. Try unbinding the same credentials from the accounts at other realms.
    • If all your accounts share a single common social network profile, please try linking any other social network profiles or e-mail to one of them and unlinking the initial one. You can do this through the Account Management Page or our Player Support (after February 2025).
  • When there are no red sections related to the credentials for all of your accounts, you can start logging in to them using their unique credentials.
WHY CAN I ONLY CHANGE MY EMAIL AND PHONE THROUGH PLAYER SUPPORT?

In order to ensure a consistent experience and limit potential avenues for bad actors to attempt to harm player's accounts. Making changes to your account email address and phone numbers can only be made through Player Support.

This helps ensure that any modifications to your account information were made by the account owner.

WHAT IF I DO NOT REMEMBER THE CREDENTIALS FROM ONE OF THE ACCOUNTS IN CONFLICT?
You may contact our Player Support team for assistance with regaining access to these accounts.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON ACCOUNT LINKING?

Yes, you will not be able to link an account if it meets the following criteria:

  1. The accounts have different countries set as their Place of Residence, visible in the Account Management system.
  2. The accounts have different full date of birth (dd.mm.yyyy) set in the Account Management system.
  3. The account is flagged as belonging to a minor.
  4. The account is registered in Korea and has not completed the identity verification process.
  5. The account is in the same realm (i.e., NA/EU/Asia) as the other account(s) attempting to be linked.

WHAT IF ONE OF MY WARGAMING ACCOUNTS IS UNDER PARENTAL CONTROL?

Currently, any Wargaming account under parental control cannot be linked with other Wargaming accounts. If such a conflict arises, you will need to log out of all other accounts during the linking process and apply unique login credentials to the impacted account.

If you have any difficulties with this, please contact Player Support.

WHAT IF ONE OF MY WARGAMING ACCOUNTS IS REGISTERED IN KOREA?
Currently, the Wargaming account registered in Korea and completed identity verification cannot be linked with other Wargaming accounts. If such a conflict is detected and one of you Wargaming accounts is under parental control, please get in touch with Player Support.

HOW CAN I RESOLVE A CREDENTIAL CONFLICT DURING THE ACCOUNT LINKING IF I HAVE SOCIAL NETWORKS BOUND?

You can manage such cases:

  1. If you have multiple profiles from the same social network bound to your Wargaming accounts, you can specify one of them as main, and it will be used for logging in. Other profiles from that social network will be unbound from your other Wargaming accounts;
  2. If you have the same social network profile bound to several WG accounts, you need to log in to all Wargaming accounts using this social network profile in order to link them. The system will indicate which realms have accounts with the same social network profile bound to them.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY CREDENTIALS THAT HAVE NO CONFLICTS?

The system will only highlight credentials that have conflicts and need your attention.

All other credentials without any conflict, including social profiles, will be saved and automatically bound to all your Wargaming accounts.

For example, if you have a Twitch profile bound to one of your accounts, you will be able to use it to log in to all your accounts after linking them.

HOW WILL TWITCH DROPS BE ACCRUED?
The mechanics will remain the same, and the Twitch Drop will be accrued to the Wargaming account the player last logged in with. If the player has multiple Wargaming accounts linked to the same Twitch account, the Drop will be accrued to the Wargaming account the user most recently logged in with.

I HAVE 2FA ENABLED FOR ONE OR MORE OF MY ACCOUNTS; WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO 2FA DURING THE ACCOUNT LINKING?

What happens with 2FA (two factor authentication) depends on the following criteria:

If you have 2FA only activated on one of the account(s) being linked.

  • The existing 2FA will be applied to all linked accounts, and no further changes are required.

If you have 2FA activated on two or more of your accounts.

  • You will need to determine which 2FA you wish to keep as the primary that will be bound to all linked accounts.
  • This will result in the system requesting confirmation of your actions in the form of a confirmation code to ensure you still have access to the associated 2FA before committing the change.

MY ACCOUNTS HAVE DIFFERENT DATE OF BIRTH, WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER THEIR LINKING?

If you are a resident of the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we will request that you add your full date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY) to resolve this conflict. From that moment on, it will be used for all your Wargaming accounts. Please find the details here.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ACCOUNT HAS NO EMAIL OR IT IS A DEMO ACCOUNT IN WOT BLITZ?

If you don't have an email bound to your account, you will need another method to log in. For example, you can use a social network profile (Facebook, Google, Steam, etc.) bound to a Wargaming account. If this profile is bound to several Wargaming accounts, you can link all of them and continue to use this social network profile as the login option.

Demo accounts will continue to exist separately until you obtain a Wargaming account that can be used to link to them. For example, create a Wargaming account here and link a social network profile to it.

CAN I UNLINK ACCOUNTS IF I CHANGE MY MIND?
You can undo account linking only through Player Support as part of processing requests for account hacking, and each case will be investigated individually.

WHAT IF I HAVE DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBERS BOUND TO ACCOUNTS I WISH TO LINK?

In order to link accounts, a single primary phone number must be bound. To resolve this conflict, you will need to contact Player Support here.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE NICKNAMES ASSOCIATED WITH THE ACCOUNTS I LINK?

There will be no changes to the associated nicknames on the linked accounts.

Additionally, all game progress/unlocked content/etc. will be retained separately in each individual region that was associated with the previously unlinked accounts.

WHAT IF SOMEONE HAS REGISTERED AN ACCOUNT IN ANOTHER REGION AND USED MY EMAIL (BY MISTAKE OR INTENTIONALLY)? WILL I BE UNABLE TO LINK MY ACCOUNTS BECAUSE ONE EXISTS THAT IS NOT MINE?
In this case, you can contact Player Support and report that there is an account with your email in another region that is not yours. Player Support will investigate and help to resolve the issue.

A EULA that is applicable to accounts in all regions came into effect on April 10, 2024. You can find it here: https://legal.eu.wargaming.net/en/eula-new/

WHAT HAPPENS IF ONE OF THE LINKED ACCOUNTS HAS A GAME/CHAT/CHARGEBACK BAN?

After account linking, game and chat bans will continue to apply only to the specific accounts that they were initially imposed on.

However, chargeback bans will extend to all linked accounts.

For example, if a player links Account_1 (which has a chat ban) with Account_2 (which has a chargeback ban), the system behavior after the linking will be as follows:

  • The chat ban will only be applied to Account_1.
  • The chargeback ban will be applied to both Account_1 and Account_2.
